In Finite Space Build 3 - Public now Live & Dev update

Good afternoon all.

Build 3 is now live and active.

Everyone worked really hard on this.

Things to note:

  • Cyrox the Mawful, the captain in this build has been retroactively added to Chapter 1 as well.
  • The new music track Pluto's Path - Calbex's Theme, has also been added to prior scenes.
  • Patreon Cavalry tier rewards have been added.

Known issues:

  • We are aware of some sprite pathing issues that can occur when skipping is done that can cause some sprites to get stuck in unusual positions. We have solved this with the help of wonderful Gruntsteel and his team so many thanks to that, however the coding is going to take a while to implement, so we've fixed what we can and will be doing a code overhaul for Build 4.

Development Update

Now some sad, though practical, news. From this update forward we are slowing down production speed. This is mostly my fault. I set unrealistic expectations on myself and the team in trying to be super fast with turnaround and expecting to be able to pump out chapter after chapter. It caused a lot of stress and pressure on the team, and also has been financially draining me, as I has forking out so much for asset turnover. However do not fret. This does not mean we are stopping, or going on hiatus. Build 4 is already in the works, and its a big one, almost double the size, and there are a bunch of new assets, and new artists involved that are going to make it amazing. That being said we will take the extra time needed now to bring you the level of polish I want, and you deserve to future builds.

In the meantime there will be a Q&A so far hosted by AzzyLion our wonderful editor sometime soon, and all development news will be shared as transparency as I can.

Thank you all so much for your continued support and for reading.

I agree with the other comment fully. The quality has been really, really good. Something you might consider, could be to make a dev log in between builds. This could highlight anything really, like something new you've learned about the Game Dev process - this could be renpy related, storytelling related, etc. - or touch on aspects of the world building that may not end up in the final game, etc. This gives insight into the game and it's development, while giving the audience something to interact with, and keeping your game 'alive' to the itch algo. Ultimately, you choose what you think is best for the game and your team. I look forward to what comes next!

Personal things and your life is far more important. Given the quality of content you are going too fast already, and taking an extra month wouldn't be an issue. Take your time and take care.
